Powell River Regional District

Population: 20,328*

One of British Columbia’s smallest regional districts by population, the Powell River Regional District (PRRD) covers a diverse landscape of just over 5,000 square kilometres on the west coast of mainland BC. The PRRD stretches northward from Georgia Strait to Toba Inlet and from Homfray Channel / Desolation Sound in the west to Jervis Inlet / Hotham Sound in the east.

The PRRD consists of one municipality (the City of Powell River) and five electoral areas. Located within the traditional territory of the Tla’amin Nation, it also includes the islands of Hernando, Lasqueti, Savary and Texada.

The Powell River Regional District (excluding Lasqueti Island) joined the North Island 911 service in 1998.
